The technology adds a hash code of all transactions on the blockchain which serves as a backup for all data. The in-game assets in games are legally owned through encryption in a token, normally BEP-20 technical infrastructure

These blockchain games became most popular in 2016, when an Ethereum based card game, CryptoKitties, sold its cat character NFTs for millions of dollars. The game initially sold tokenized images of cats which derived their value from the rarity of the characters, furthermore, the game encouraged its players to breed different cats for rare outcomes.
